He took me to the coast. Corpus Christi- the same place we went on our mini-honeymoon last year. So this city will always be special to us... well to me anyway. :P
We hadn't really planned much. I was expecting dinner to Olive Garden out of the deal though. Gotta love their Stuffed Chicken Marsala.
Anyhoo.. he asked my mom to keep the kids.. last minute. and she agreed! WOOOO!
So I packed our overnight bags, dropped the kids off at my mom's and headed south.
Dh isn't the take lead type. He always goes with what I want. I'm usually the plan maker. It was sooooooooo nice to just sit back and enjoy the getaway. I'm not the spontaneous type. I like to book hotels on line, print out google maps.. blah blah blah. Not this time! I just got in the truck with my suitcase and was ready for whatever came up.
The ride down was so peaceful. I love road trips. Dh was especially sweet. Grabbing my hand and kissing it every once in a while. Ahhhhhhhhhh that melts my heart. I love my husband.
We got to Corpus around 3ish. Got a room at Red Roof.Relaxed for a bit before heading out for dinner. We watched AFV for a while. I love that show. SO old school and cheesy, but seriously, its the only show that will make me laugh out loud.
We got freshened up and went to find our favorite mexican restaurant Kiko's. There was a 45 minute wait, but that was fine with me. Being from Texas, and being Mexican myself, this is the best mexican food around. Trust me. After 45 minutes of people watching, we got our table for two. (what? no kids?) We pigged out on queso & chips and Enchiladas.. Tasty travels!
Back to the room to change. We're going fishing. We put on our jeans and hoodies. Grabbed our chairs/fishing gear and headed to the pier. We had to stop for fresh shrimp. Ew! I usually dont go fishing with dh so I expected us to buy worms. hehehehe. It was around 65 degrees and foggy by this time. We fished for a few hours. Not my idea of fun, but hey, whatever keeps the fire burning. It was fun just hanging out and being ourselves, not parents. We packed up around midnight and took a cruise downtown to check out the nightlife. Then we stopped at one of the T- Heads to walk around. We came across this really neat boat. It was a replica of the Nina. I cant believe that those pilgrims were brave enough to get in a boat like that and brave the seas!!!

Sleeping in was so nice. I'm glad we got a double. I must use 2 pillows at night. Taking a long hot shower in the morning was nice too. No rush, no kids to worry about. Hotel towels are the best too. So thirsty. :P
We checked out and went to breakfast.
We wanted to take a bay curise on the Flagship, but there were not enough passengers. It requires at least 30 to get underway. So that was out.
We went to Treasure Island to play mini- golf! My favorite! Yay! I felt like a kid walking in there. It was so much fun. 18 holes, but neither of us made a hole in one. I felt so guilty playing without the kids. I must have told Dh a hundred times that I wished the kids were with us. We're definately taking them this Summer. I think we had the most fun playing mini-golf.

We were being silly, egging each other on. Dh even made the kissing sound when our golf balls would touch. hahahaha. good times.
We did a little bit is shopping after that. Didnt want to show up empty handed when we picked up the kids. We stopped at a trade center-- kinda like an indoor flea market. I got me some Dolce and Gabana knock off sunglasses. Yeah, I'm ghetto fabulous. :P
By this time, it was time to head home.
We did a lot in 24 hours. It was a really fun and romantic trip. My honey is so good to me. It really meant alot that he wanted to take me somewhere special- just the two of us.
